December 31, 201213 yr I'm fairly inexperienced with all things Linux but I normally get by and eventually get things installed. Anyway, I have finally installed MySQL onto my unraid server for use with XBMC as I have just bought a Raspberry Pi box to play with as a second client. Install went surprisingly well and I had everything up and running fairly quickly, very pleased with myself as I had been putting this off for ages. That's the good over with. Based on what I thought was good experience from installing Squeeze Server on the cache drive I decided to follow suit with the MySQL. However after having something go wrong overnight, no idea what, and being faced with no library content on either XBMC client in the morning, I did some more reading and I think I should of installed onto the main raid for protection. Now I have MySQL back up and running after many hours of frustration today I'm back re-importing my library and setting up again. Now I don't mind this apart from the fact that I have no idea why everything was fine when I left it last night but not so this morning. Found a good thread in which the last post on the first page pretty much explains the issue I saw today and gives me good reason to move my DB to the raid; http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=17726.0 Is this as simple as change the config via pkg manager to not re-install on re-boot, re-boot and reinstall with config variables pointing to Disk1 rather than cache as I have it today? Or do I need to run some sort of purge to really remove the original install from my server? Or is there a simple and clean way to move from the cache drive to disk1 and update all config files in the process?
March 23, 201313 yr Hey there, did you ever figure this one out without losing your database? Thanks.
March 29, 201313 yr As far as I know, the databases are completely contained within specific folders under the data folder a separate folder for each database you should be able to easily move them around I moved all of my databases from a 4.7 install to a 5.0rc install if you move the database folder, just change the mysql data folder setting in addon config and it should work
March 29, 201313 yr Author Sorry, forgot about this post. Yes what was previously said, remove the folder structure, update the config settings via the package install page and go through the install process again. Fairly simple in the end.
