December 31, 201213 yr So, my tower died. I took the pw supply to frys and it was ok, so I got a new mb, cpu, and ram. I don't know what my disks were plugged in to as far as order. What's the best action to take to hook my 5 drives up to the new motherboard? Thank You, Brandon
December 31, 201213 yr Author I think I'm one version shy of the latest 5.x . My USB key is fine. Once I put the new cpu, mb, etc in, will it know what drives are what? Thanks.

If the USB drive is fine it will figure it out on its own. unRAID uses the model/serial numbers of the drives, not the MB ports when assigning disks to the array. The model/serial numbers of the disks are stored in a file in the config directory on the flash drive. Joe L.
December 31, 201213 yr Author Wow this might work easily. My new MB has 6 sata ports, so I don't even need another card. I love Unraid. Thx.
January 1, 201313 yr Been there, done this.. Yet another reason for me to use unraid.. no fuss hardware replacement/migration. glad it was painless.. the mental part, not the cost out of pocket.. I hope new server is faster to help justify it.
