c234rmf
Ok so I ordered a new Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 from newegg. It is a 4k format drive but is lies to the system and tells it the sector size is 512 bytes. Should I set the align option in UnRaid before I add this drive? Anyone out there have this drive done any testing for aligned vs unaligned? I cannot find any documentation for the drive that shows any jumpers. Thanks Quote Link to comment
betaman
I have one aligned in my 4.7 build. No issues to report thus far but it's getting light duty as I added it as a spare to replace a failed drive when one goes down. Quote Link to comment
lionelhutz
Just use aligned. You can only go wrong if you use aligned on a WD drive with the jumper, otherwise aligned works for EVERY drive out there. And yes, as of right now every drive reports 512b sectors to the OS regardless of it's internal structure. The drives with 4k sectors use them internally only. Quote Link to comment
