January 4, 201313 yr so, I have been running 4.7 without any issues forever it seems... never had to touch it or doing anything to it... it just worked... so I got 3 3TB drives recently, went to add some them to my unraid box and they were apparently very unhappy with 4.7, it couldn't detect them or mount them or something like that... (ie they showed up in /dev/, but that was it... so, just for fun, I loaded up 5.0rc8a and everything (seemed to at least) work perfectly... I gotta say, I like the new UI, but I thought there was suppose to be some fancy new built in plugin manager? am I missing something? did I not install something correctly? but there is one minor, but somewhat annoying, little issue... now every time I write a file to the array, I need to go and run that permissions util to make it so that the file can be read by other pc's/devices... kind of annoying really... once run, everything is fine, until I write a new file... how do I convince 5.0rc8a to just write the file with the correct permissions to start with? also, I think I accidentally created a new user, but unraid wont let me delete it? there is a delete button, you click that and then it says something about restarting SMB or some such real fast, but the user is still there...
January 4, 201313 yr How are you creating files? What user login is being used to create the files? Select the Delete checkbox and then click delete. It will respond with User fred has been deleted.
January 4, 201313 yr Author I am not using users, or at least I never planned on using users, I don't think I am using users? how could I tell?... I have been just using root or at least that how 4.7 was set up... I did accidentally create a user named admin while randomly pressing buttons... I like the new UI, so I just had to play with stuff... kick the tires/see how things worked... as for how I create the files, I noticed it when ripping a DVD to the array and going back later and trying to watch said dvd... for a simple test, I created a txt file that said contained the word test and tried to open it from a different pc. Select the Delete checkbox and then click delete. I tried this, seemed intuitive... It will respond with User fred has been deleted. I don't get that... it doesn't say anything has been deleted...
January 4, 201313 yr Author figured out how to delete a user... need to stop array first... seems like an odd requirement... should be a note or something... but hey, it works, so no complaints... ahh cool, killing the unwanted user seemed to fix the permissions issue
