can i install a wd black as a torent drive?

Featured Replies

I am wondering, if I purchase a 4tb wd black and install it in my server, can I use it and not have it be protected? I don't want to use it as a cache

Check out benni's plug in for adding a drive outside your array

i choose the black due to the fact it will be running 24/7.

still have to purchase the drive

Whats your reasoning behind a black for 24/7 use? Just curious. Your internet speed most likely will not max out even a green drive so why not use one for better power efficiency?

Why not set it up as a cache drive without turning on cache ? My "cache" drive does nothing more than run my plugins, the actual cache drive function of unraid is turned off.

my worry is that since I will be constantly uploading and downloading I am worried the green drive may not keep up while the black is sort of designed to handle the abuse

cache? I thought about that but part of me wants to keep it separate as the cache is also used for sab and and I use it for a temp storage till I can move the files into the proper folder
