September 13, 200817 yr I have had unraid pro running for over a year with no problems. Today i transferred a file over to the tower and lost connection it did boot up but I couldn't connect to it and now it wont even start up it gets stuck at loading bizroot. Any help please. I don't know what to do now and I have 12 disks full of stuff on the server.
September 14, 200817 yr Your 12 disks should be fine, no matter how bad the rest of the computer may be. There's not much info to go on here, but my first suspicion is you have had a hardware failure of some sort. The first step is to determine what works, and what doesn't. If you have any bootable diagnostic tools, on a live CD or bootable floppy, and can install a floppy or CD drive, you might want to try them. You can also try the memory test on the unRAID startup screen. Here's a post (second half of the post) that suggests a strategy for isolating hardware issues. I would start by unhooking the cables to ALL of the drives, and removing any addon cards, then trying to boot unRAID. You might also try the flash drive in another computer, and scandisk it. If it checks out, it's probably fine. Then try to boot it in the other computer. You may have to adjust the boot options to boot the flash drive. If it can boot to the usual console login prompt, then the flash drive is probably fine, and it's definitely a hardware issue in the unRAID server.
September 15, 200817 yr I had that problem initially when I replaced my motherboard. It turned out the bios wasn't properly detecting the RAM timings (cheap RAM). Once I manually set the timings the problem went away. To reduce heat even more, I underclocked both the ram and the processor. There was no noticable difference in performance when I did this, but temps went down a few degrees.
