January 13, 201313 yr I wanted to get a Cache drive so I bought a 1TB Samsung HD. The 4 drives I currently have take up all the SATA ports my Mobo has so I also purchased an ASM1061 SATA Card (SY-PEX40039): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005B0A6ZS/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_SC_dp_1 It's a PCI Express 2.0 x1 card that I put in my PCI-E x16 slot (It's the only PCI-E slot my mobo has). When I boot up I can't seem to find any traces of the controller card or the hard drive I have attached to it. I've added this script that will enable SATA controllers to the go file and even manually ran it: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=19882.15 but it tells me "No devices enabled". I've searched high and low in the BIOS but was unable to find any reference to the new SATA controller card or the hard drive I have plugged into it. I did lots of troubleshooting and determined my extra HD works when plugged into the mobo. I tried re-seating the SATA controller card many different times but with no change. Here's my configuration: Updated to UnRaid 5.0-rc10 Biostar A880G Mobo with 4 SATA Hard Drives connected to it Extra SATA Hard Drive connected to the PCI-E SATA Card Any ideas?? Please help! Thanks in advance!

So you are saying the card does not POST?...the card should at least issue something during boot, even without a drive attached ("asmedia...no devices found" or the likes). What is "lspci" reporting from your unraid console...is the card to be found in that listing? Looks like a dead card, maybe. Some mobo BIOS offer to surpress third party BIOS...look for an option there and enable/disable this. Can you try with another mobo?

January 14, 201313 yr ...right, as it looks, the mobo only offers a single PCIe (x16) type slot only? So chances are the slot will not work with that card. I'd try with another mobo if possible and preferably not in a PCIex16 slot.
January 14, 201313 yr Author What is "lspci" reporting from your unraid console...is the card to be found in that listing? I don't believe Unraid has lspci command. When I try it I get "command not found". Can you try with another mobo? I'll see if I can try it with another computer/mobo later today. Is there a way we can confirm that my mobo's PCIe x16 slot is only for video cards or not? Here's my mobo: BIOSTAR A880G+ AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138283
