[Solved] 4.4.2 to 4.7 upgrade: NFS issues

Featured Replies

I just attempted to do the 4.4.2 to 4.7 upgrade, but I am having issues with my nfs shares that I mount from a EL6 server.  Windows has no problem mounting the shares, however.  I have the shares listed in /etc/fstab as:

192.168.1.199:/mnt/user/backup /backup                  nfs     rw              0 0
192.168.1.199:/mnt/user/music /music                       nfs     rw              0 0
192.168.1.199:/mnt/user/pictures /pictures                nfs     rw              0 0
192.168.1.199:/mnt/user/video2 /video2                    nfs     rw              0 0
192.168.1.199:/mnt/user/mythvideo /videos              nfs     rw              0 0

My server just sits and spins when I run mount -a or when I reboot.  So, I started stripping entries from fstab and got to the point where it appeared to successfully mount one of the shares, but I got "access denied" when I tried to list the directory.

Can anyone point me to the right thread or give me some guidance to over come this?  Meanwhile, I decided to revert back to 4.4.2 while I sort this out.

Is the upgrade to 4.7 from 4.4,2 like the upgrade to 5.0 from 4.7?  I believe you have to recreate your users after the upgrade to 5.0. Might be a similar situation with you going to 4.7 from 4.4.2?

I'll have to try the upgrade again to see.  Meanwhile, does anyone else know?

What do you mean re: users?  In the user tab of the Tower console, user-level security is disabled.  The only user defined is root.

Anyone have thoughts on this upgrade before I try again?  I'd like to get off 4.4.2 since it is now obsolete.

Did you edit /etc/fstab or are you using the GUI?

I edit with vi.  Is this a factor?

Solved!

Turns out that the permissions in the unraid console were not being honored after the upgrade.  I simply had to re-type *(rw) and apply for all the shares I have.

Very odd.  I use Google Chrome, but I have no idea if this would have happened with IE or FF.
