tucansam
Kinda off topic but at the same time kinda not... I need a linux desktop distro, something that looks like unraid. That is to say, I don't want to load BSD because paths and commands will be subtly different, and I'd like to stay "in practice" and be able to edit the same files, in the same paths, etc., as unraid. So if unraid is based on, say, Redhat, then I'll look for a desktop distro in that family. In fact, I know I've read somewhere what linux distro unraid is based on, but I can't remember. So... what linux distro lies underneath unraid? Quote Link to comment

WeeboTech
I would suggest installing slackware.. or at the very least set up a vmware or virtual box environment with slackware. This will allow you to download slackware or virgin source, find or build a slackbuild file and make a package suitable for installation on unRAID. Quote Link to comment
RokleM
While you're asking about unraid, one of the easiest to play with will be ubuntu. Quote Link to comment
