January 15, 201313 yr OK, not sure what happened as I have done this in the past without issue. Until today... Recently replace parity drive to expand array to 3 TB. Re-built and checked parity, ran things for a week without issue. Tonight I stopped the array, re-placed a 1.5TB drive with a 3TB drive started array, replaced it in the GUI and wanted to start array and re-build. However, I never got the option. Instead, the array is brought online and the disk is disabled and has the red ball. Just curious what my next steps are at this point before I break something and wreck the entire array. Do I need to put the old drive back and try again?
January 15, 201313 yr Author Panicked a little early. Did some more searching and found a fix. 1. Stopped Array 2. un-assigned disk 3. started the array 4. stopped array 5. added disk again 6. checked box that I wanted to start array, clicked start array 7. array started, clicked re-build parity Parity is re-building and everything appears to be happy again. Its a nice change from the parity build last week to my PCI sata card where parity built at 23mb/s, currently building at 103MB/s
