January 18, 201313 yr I have a small SSD that I am using for cache, 30gb. I get the HPA warning on that drive, but have no clickable link in the ID field to fix it with. I guess that I should input it into the list and reboot, but I really did not want to reboot to fix it. Any ideas why the ID field is not showing up for the device? It is working correctly.
January 18, 201313 yr Check your syslog and confirm that the kernel itself is reporting an HPA on the drive. I don't know how the HPA is being detected for that screen, so it may be a false positive. I don't really think an HPA matters though, on a Cache or extra drive, which is not an array drive.
January 18, 201313 yr I have the same deal with a 40GB SSD. My guess it is just a size it does not recognize. January 18, 201313 yr I've seen the same warning on a small 30GB SSD drive using a non-Gigabyte motherboard, so I think it's safe to ignore. You can set a custom drive attribute of hpa_ok with a value of 1 to disable the warning for the disk if you'd like.
January 18, 201313 yr Author I wanted to set it to ignore it, but in the screen shot there is not a link in the ID field. So, there is nothing to click and set. I am more concerned about the lack of the clickable field than I am about the false error. I am running rc8.
