January 19, 201313 yr Hi, First off thanks to anyone who helps or trys to help with this problem. I've reached my limit of knowledge and haven't done more than come up with workarounds. Let me start off with detailing my current setup: Devices ------------------------------------ 3TB HDD - Parity 3TB HDD - Disk 1 3TB HDD - Disk 2 3TB HDD - Disk 3 3TB HDD - Disk 4 90GB SSD - Cache Share ------------------------------------ Name: Media Allocation Method: High-Water Minimum Free Space: 0KB Split Level: Level 1 - combine files to top level subfolders within share 'Media' Included Disk(s): All Excluded Disk(s): None Use Cache Disk: No Share Empty: No Folder Structure ------------------------------------ Media ----Movies --------Movie 1 (1995) ------------Movie 1.mkv ------------Movie 1.sub --------Movie 2 (2003) ------------Movie 2.mkv ------------Movie 2.sub ----TV --------Show 1 ------------Season 01 ----------------Show 1 s01e01.mkv ----------------Show 1 s01e02.mkv ------------Season 02 ----------------Show 1 s02e01.mkv ----------------Show 1 s02e02.mkv ----------------Show 1 s02e03.mkv --------Show 2 ------------Season 01 ----------------Show 2 s01e01.mkv ----------------Show 2 s01e02.mkv ----------------Show 1 s01e03.mkv Alright, so my problem is that I have been accessing this share via that path '/mnt/user/Media/Movies/....' and everything has been fine. As software on my unRaid box downloads the media, it is then copied to that path. Everything has been working fine until I filled my first hard drive. Now when it goes to copy, it fails because its out of disk space. I have been just manually moving the files to '/mnt/disk2/Media/Movies/...' to get them to the correct drive, and they do show up under the share correctly after manually moving them. I just want to know how to properly copy to the share so that my applications see it as one large 12TB of space and I don't have to manually pick the drive to drop them into. Also if anyone sees anything else wrong with my share setup, feel free to comment. Thanks in advance!
January 19, 201313 yr Looking at it, it looks like the split level is wrong. From the wiki - http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#Split_level Level 1 The top level Media share can be created on every disk. Every other folder under the Media share must remain on a single disk. This setting does not allow the SD Movies, HD Movies, Kids Movies or TV Shows folders to spread to multiple disks. This setting is too low for all the media. Looking at your setup - try level 2.
January 19, 201313 yr Author Thanks so much for the clarification. I guess when reading the documentation, I was just confused about the levels. I have made the change and will alter the status of this post to solved if it works after testing.
January 19, 201313 yr I'm not sure I completely understand the split myself (as I've not yet finished building my server and have nothing to test with). But level 2 seems a good choice. The only issue would be with your TV shows as this level will force each show to remain on one disk. If the show has many series, it could again result in the no disk space errors.
January 19, 201313 yr Author So it appears this seems to be solving some of my issues. But do you think going to level 3 would be a good choice to help resolve the tv shows not splitting across drives?
January 19, 201313 yr Level 3 would then solve that issue but would could also result in the contents of your moving folders being split across disks... Although that isn't really an issue.
