unRAID not detecting drives on Gigabyte X79S-UP5 Intel SAS

Featured Replies

I am using newest unRAID (5.0-rc10)... I have 14 drives in my PC (10x 4TB Hitachis, 4x seagate 3tb). Mobo is Gigabyte X79S-UP5-WiFi.

The problem is, unraid only shows 6 drives. The 6 drives it does show are all on the Intel SATA ports on the motherboard. The motherboard has 8 SAS ports but I bought the board because it said you can use the ports as regular SATA ports no problem. All the 14 drives show up in the motherboard's BIOS so I thought OK there should be no problem! But unRAID only shows 6.

Any ideas?

Only that you look in the syslog for clues.  It is probably a BIOS setting.

If you do not have the experience in analyzing a syslog, perhaps follow the guidance given in this post

and attach a syslog.

Bump, has anyone got it working?

I have this exact board for my desktop. I'm looking to rebuild my setup and put unraid and gaming/workstation into 1.

This board would be perfect for that if the SAS is working.

Thanks
