January 21, 201313 yr Just something I've notice which begs me to ask the question. I am running Windows Media Center on Windows 7 on multiple PC's in my home. They access movie shares on mu unRAID server. Now, whenever the disks are spun down, when MediaBrowser access the share's, it is somewhat time consuming, because MediaBrowser has to wait for all drives to come online, before being able to access the shares. Would it make sense to have a script, or a http request made against the unRAID server, that would tell it to spin up all disks? Thank you, Marcus
January 21, 201313 yr You might want to look instead at using the cache-dirs add-on for unRAID. Using cache-dirs avoids having to spin up disks unless you are actually streaming media from the disk in question. It therefore eliminates the delay at the client without the overhead of spinning up the drives.
January 22, 201313 yr this is what you want http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=4858.0 you can even have it monitor an IP Address/netbios name and have the disks spin up when that becomes active. otherwise, all disks will spinup on access (plus other things)
