Access / in OS X

Featured Replies

I'm hoping this is trivial but I couldn't find the answer. I just want to copy some files over to the /Library folder but how do I view it in OS X?

I was just using the terminal to copy files but it wasn't exactly efficient. Is there a way I can browse it?

In the Finder open Macintosh HD and /Library will be visible.

Do you mean /Users/yourusername/Library or /Volumes/BootDisk/Library?

I mis typed that but still not sure how to do it.

I want to edit a file in

/usr/local/sbin/

on the unRaid machine and I can get there in the terminal (but not edit the file). How do I (or can I) get to it from the Finder? I'm just connecting via SMB.

/usr/local/sbin is not available as or in a share. Any file edited in this location will revert to the stock version upon a reboot. Copy the file to the flash (/boot)  and edit the copy on the flash drive. Then add an entry to the go file that will copy the edited version to /usr/local/sbin on startup.
