January 24, 201313 yr I'm doing a preeclear of a new 2TB drive right now. After this is completes I'm going to assign this as my new parity drive. I like to do as follow. 1: Stop array 1: Assign old parity as a DATA disk 2: Assign new 2TB as PARITY disk 3: Start array can I do this in same time? or it's need a reboot between 2 & 3 ? //Peter
January 24, 201313 yr it will not work. Perform it as two steps, (install new parity disk, then, after new parity disk is installed and new parity has been calculated, then stop array once more and install new percleared data disk. OR, set a new disk configuration after installing the two disks as a single step and let unRAID calculate parity on the new configuration.. Joe L.
January 24, 201313 yr You're talking about assigning the old parity as a new data disk, correct? If answer is yes then see what Joe wrote. If answer is no, then yes you can do it. Stop array and unassign the data disk you want to replace. Start and stop array so the admin-page says the data disk is missing. Now, assign the new drive to the parity slot and old parity to the data disk slot. unRAID will copy parity and then rebuild the contents of the replaced disk.
