January 26, 201313 yr I'm running an ESXI unraid build. I have ESXi installed on an SSD and would like to add a portion of this drive as a virtual drive to my unraid array as a cache drive. I have created a virtual drive, added it to my unraid vm. However, I am unable to add this drive to my unraid array. The drive is available for selection in unraid but is auto unselected after I try to choose it. I've noticed that my virtual drive doesn't have a serial number. I'm guess this this is the problem? Anyone have any experience adding ESX Virtual drives to their unraid array? Mike
January 28, 201313 yr I tried this once and from memory, I had to add it as an IDE drive rather than a SCSI drive. The resulting performance was so horribly slow though, that I quickly just deployed a 2nd SSD as a cache drive.
January 28, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the info. Not very encouraging though. Anyone else tried this?
