Unable to access Web GUI

Featured Replies

As reported in another thread by a fellow user - I am unable to access the GUI without a full reboot of the system. I posted about it yesterday but deleted my thread as a fresh install of RC11 seemed to fix it. However after using the box successfully with SAB, CP and SB, and after sitting idle for an hour or so, I lost the GUI. I can access all other functions -telnet, SMB shares and unmenu, and also all the plugin pages, but the main web gui is gone.

I've checked other threads on the issue, most are solved by re-installing but after 2 weeks of trying to get a stable unraid install going I don't want to turn back from here

Can anyone please offer some assistance? Log is attached.

Cheers

Joe L - is this really a 'User Customisation'? The default unRAID GUI failing to be accessible?

While you were moving it I don't suppose you managed a look at the logs  ;)

Yes, the GUI being missing AFTER a reboot is caused most often by the add-ons that are preventing it from completing a normal start.

disable the add-ons, reboot, then find the one (hopefully only one) that prevents clean a reboot.

Yes, I downloaded and looked at the log.  Tons of add-ons being installed.  It did not belong in the original forum.

I've seen far too many where a plugin will prevent a reboot from completion.  I suspect this will be the same.

If the problem persists after they are temporarily disabled, then a better analysis can take place.

I'll move the thread back if you prefer...  It is just there are more people in the customization sub-forum who know which plugins have been causing issues.

Thanks Joe.

It's been a challenging issue. It hasn't only been limited to a reboot. In the most recent case it was after sitting idle for about 1 hr. If I had to say there was one action that seems to precede the issue it would be starting or stopping the array. Which from the logs (and as you point out) seems to be when the plugins all start up.

Thanks for looking at this - once I summon the strength to try again Ill start removing the plugins and isolating the issue.

Im happy with the thread being wherever it is most likely to seen by people with a strange inclination to help  :D

I can 2nd these symptoms.  It was happening to me since I first installed unraid 5rc9 until now.  Was hoping 5rc11 fixed it.  When mine poops, unmenu and SB and sabnzbd keep trucking.  If it is an addon, my money is on CP.  It's been flakey lately. Or maybe plex.  It was real stable for awhile then when it pooped so did cp and I had stopped an restarted array.  I had to modify the settings.conf and runner.py script to get CP working after any reboot or array stop and start.  I'll keep watching and update if it happens again.

Ok so I got home and sure enough the default GUI is still dead. Used unraid-web to do a scripted shutdown (pretty happy I found this tool - finally dont have to redo my parity check after every reboot)

REbooted - array stopped - couldnt access GUI initially - could telnet, access unmenu and unraid-web. Could see emhttp started and running.

Tried again 5 mins later and could now access unRAIDGUI.

Started array and consequently all plugins - can still access the unRAIDGUI. I'll now just wait for it to die and see if anything shows in logs.

I dont know how 'active' this system is whilst idle - but that I can access the GUI after firing everything up gives me fools hope.
