ESXI Query

Has anyone had problems with esxi 5.0 and unraid?

Transferring unraid from hp microserver to my new server, with esxi 5.0

one of the disks reported issues.  Unraid could see it, but didnt like it.

Long story short, ended up removing the disk (which smart settings says was ok)

putting a bigger drive in and rebuilding.  4 times yesterday i got a unraid kernel panic. (crashed).  I ended up removing all plugins with just basic setup and it was still happening

currently rebuilding it , by removing the esxi (bootable esxi usb drive) and just let the system boot up on the unraid usb drive (that would normally be usb passed through to the unraid vm)

It looks like all is going well so far (2 hrs to go).

will boot up again on esxi and let unraid run overnight to see if it was just a issue with rebuilding the disk or something else is up.

Finally anyone jumped up to esxi 5.1? Any issues?

No problems here in either 5.0 or 5.1 (I think there may have been auto power up dependency issues with vm's in 5 but I don't use that feature of esxi).

You will probably need to give more info on your setup before we can comment further - how you're presenting your disks through to esxi etc.

What does the kernel panic say?

With 5.1 I had a crash that I could reproduce at will until I installed patches

ESXi510-201212001 and  ESXi510-20121100 both are rated as important fixes by VMWare.

Yes - sorry I should have been more precise. No problems this end with 5.1 and all relevant patches!

... and  ESXi510-20121100 both ...

I don't see that, did you mean: ESXi510-201210001 ?

heres the image of the panic

spec of machine:

AMD 8120 (8 core)

16Gb RAM

Asus crosshair v board

ibm m1015 (it mode) hardware pass thru

corsair 750w psu

oh using rc10 (soon to be 11)

a quick google suggests or points to memory/memory timing/voltage.  The board im using is a overclockers/gamers board (good specs inthe pci-e) will check the memory timings (they should be as default will check though tomorrow)
