[SOLVED] better safe than sorry

Hi guys,

This is probably a dumb question from someone who's been using unRaid for years but still since there's no way to write protect the data disks I'd rather look dumb than be sorry.

This is on a 4.7 unRaid.

I replaced my parity drive:

1) Stopped the array

2) Power down

3) replaced the Parity drive

4) Powered up the array - did NOT START it

5) Unassigned the parity drive

6) Ran PreClear on the Parity Drive

7) Spun down the data disks

8) PreClear took 24 hours for a 2TB Drive

9) Assigned the parity drive without powering down the array

10) The Main unRaid screen shows the parity drive in BLUE all data drives in GREEN (screen attached)

unMenu says "Parity Invalid" like it should, BUT the main unRaid screen doesn't say

"Start will bring the array on-line and REBUILD Parity"

instead it says

"Start will bring the array on-line and start Parity-Sync" and I'm not 100% sure that it really means REBUILD PARITY

SHOULD I press START NOW?

(a Write Protect Data Disk capability would have helped here)

Thanks, waiting for your inputs

It is fine.

it is poorly worded.  You are correct, starting the array will calculate parity and write it to the parity disk.
