February 5, 201313 yr I'm working on creating my Unraid server for my network, but sometimes I want to bring my server with me to friends and use it as a big USB drive because I can't connect it to the network. I know usb bridge cable exists, but I'm going to need drivers for unraid I have seen there are usb to ethernet cables but not Ethernet to USB cable, maybe it's the same and it's possible to invert there main goal. Thank You I'm sorry for my bad English, but I'm french
February 5, 201313 yr This is because you want to plug in your unRAId into the TV at your friend's place, maybe? I think that it is easier to just build a portable network from scratch. For example install a DHCP Server in your unRAID box and take it along with a desktop switch...on the TV side, add a simple media-player, like a WDTV.
February 5, 201313 yr Author It's because I wanted to use the speed of the USB3 to copy files from the server to a computer even gigabits network is quick, usb 3 is faster than Gigabit network
February 5, 201313 yr .....with unRAID you will only receive speed of a single disk from the array. If you run all green drives, sustained speed is around GBit. I'd gather you will not benefit from USB3 even if this kind of setup will work.
February 5, 201313 yr Curious why you can just get a long ethernet cable and plug it in to his router/switch? Like someone said, gigabit is going to be the max read speed you're going to get anyway.
February 7, 201313 yr What conclusion did you get after plugin long Ethernet cable to the router ? Is it working now ? achat neuf
