Booting issue and potential cache drive issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

Server has been working okay on 5.0 -rc8a.

However I noticed this morning that my cache drive was showing as unassigned for some reason.

I tried to reboot and encountered something I haven't encountered before.

The screen went back upon turning the power on sat like that for a minute or so then it went onto the bios boot screen with the makers graphic.  That usually flashes up for a second or 2 and then goes away but this time it sat like that for 3 or 4 minutes.  Then it proceeded to boot as normal but slightly slower than normal.

My server is up and running but for some reason now my cache drive is no longer there to assign even though it is properly connected.  My cache drive is an OCZ Vertex SSD drive.

I have attached my syslog and wonder if someone can have a look and see if there are any obvious issues in there and if not does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks

Didn't look at the syslog, but it certainly sounds to me given the long boot time that your SSD has failed, and the bios was taking its time trying to query the drive before it gave up and booted anyway.

Thanks.

Appears you may be right.  Removed the SSD and it booted fine.  I then attached a 500gb spare drive in place of the SSD and it also booted fine and showed in my menu to be assigned.

Next step to try the SSD in my main PC and see if it shows as it is only 5 months old!!!
