I don't think the recent versions of unRAID allow share access by root. Create a user in the webGUI and give it access to your shares.

If you use the same username and password as your windows user you won't even have to login to access a share.

I have been using RC8a since it came out - moved from 4.7 - did the new permissions then

Then moved to RC10 when it came out - again did the new permissions as required

and moved to RC11 a few days ago

I didn't have any problems and never had any user but "root"

Can't access shares from smart phone as well.

I will restart the server and see if it helps

So restart solved the permissions problem.

Now I have a problem that everything is very!!! slow - not just copying but even telnet response and WEBUI.

The fact that even things like telnet are affected suggests it is a network issue.

Might be worth checking that you have not got two machines on your network trying to use the same IP address.  That can cause these sorts of symptoms.

If not, then I would be looking for a defective network cable, or one not securely plugged in.

So restart solved the permissions problem.

If it wasn't a clean restart, it will run a correcting parity check, which can slow things down. Post a current syslog.
