bonzi
I'm moving to a new city. One of the things I have to move is of course my unraid server. Anyone have any recommendations for moving 16 hard drives? Can I get away with leaving them in the drive cages or should I take them out and put them in styrofoam? Link to comment
mrow
How are you moving it? By car? If so you can just wrap it in a blanket and put it in the back seat. If its going in a plane or a moving truck I'd put it in a box surrounded by foam padding. But no, you don't need to take them all out. Keeping them in the case is actually better as the case will absorb most of the shock from bumps. Link to comment
bonzi
Yeah, its just being moved in a car. Thanks, I'll do as you suggested that sounds good to me. Link to comment
marcusone
Just make sure the case is oriented so that the motherboard is flat with chip pointing upward. So the heatsink doesn't put stress on the board as it moves / bumps around. Sent from my SGH-I727R using Tapatalk 2 Link to comment
