February 12, 201313 yr Is it possible to RDM the onboard SATA 300 ports? I need only a few extra ports in ESXi? So my Datastores remain on the SATA600 ports. Not that I found. i played around with it a bit and couldnt get it to work. All the ports are on one controller.
February 12, 201313 yr Author What would a good additional 3 or 4 port controller be? I already tried the cheapo 2 port SIL chip based controller but couldn't get it detected.
February 12, 201313 yr A few people on here using the HighPoint Rocket 640L. It's based on the Marvell 88SE9235 chipset so if you can find any cheaper than the HighPoint card with that chipset it should work. It's got 4x SATAIII ports.
