I just recently purchased a Norco 3216. I am planning on getting another one. In the case there are 16 hot swap in the front. Also an area to mount 2 2.5 right above the hot swaps, but also an area under the power supply to mount 1 more 3.5 hard drive. I was wondering if putting a mechanical green data drive under the power supply was "safe".

    If it wasn't safe they wouldn't have made a mounting place for it. PSUs run pretty cool these days. Won't be a problem. It should still be getting at least some air moving over it from the backplane fans.

    Awesome. Thanks. That brings my drive count to a max of 18 unless i can think of something else other than cache drive for the other 2.5 slot.
