help with xbmc library watchdog and unraid

Featured Replies

so im looking at using library watchdog for xbmc but i had a concern and was hoping someone here knows the answer. i have xbmc on a raspberry pi powered by my tv's usb service port so xbmc turns on when my tv does. all my media is on an unraid server that is not always on when xbmc is (i dont like the server to always be on). my question is this: since watchdog will add AND remove items from the library, if the nfs share is not available when xbmc loads will it basically clean the library or will it just wait for it to be reachable?

afaik, xbmc by default does not automatically clean the library to avoid the very same issue you mentioned. It will only clean if you instruct it to do so

in xbmc, if the share is unavailable, the media will still be listed, if you try to play, you'll get a dialog box saying it doesn't exist and it will ask you if you want to remove it from library or not

yes, but i am referring to the library watchdog, which is an add-on to xbmc.

it continually scans and cleans the library. since i dont know the technical details of how it achieves this, i am asking if anyone here has any personal experience with this. because while i do want it to clean the library for when, say, sickbeard upgrades the quality of a show it does not keep the deleted show in the library, i also do not want it to clean the entire library (essentially deleting it) simply because the share is unavailable. i hope there is logic in place to prevent this, especially since using watchdog over an nfs share is an extremely commonplace practice.

Sounds like a question best asked of the XBMC plugin authors over at the XBMC forums.

I've spent a few days there myself, since I just updated to Frodo and have a few minor things to sort out.
