Going from 4.5.4 to most stable version 3TB drive support

Featured Replies

I hate going to new versions it is always nerve racking..I want to start using 3TB drives.

Is there a stable version that allows this?

This is the only reason I want to upgrade from my trusty old 4.5.4 version.

3TB drive support was added as part of v5.  The most stable will be 5.0RC11.  The 5.0 final release is expected to not be far off, and is unlikely to be much different to 5.0RC11.

There are plenty of people who are using the 5.0RC11 release without any issues, although inevitably there are some who encounter problems.  It is easy enough to upgrade to 5.0 RC11 to check it works OK for you, and to revert if you encounter issues.  You are going to have to get onto the 5.0 releases if you want to be able to use 3TB (or larger) drives.

I would recommand that you read this:

Well..as usual the upgrade went like a disaster....tried to change out bizimage, bzroot and memtest from the 4.7 stable version download like directions said if you are up grading from 4.5.4. Did not boot up. Took flash drive out and and deleted all on flash drive then copied over the copy I made of 4.5.4 before starting and it still says boot error. I hate this shit.

What next???

Tried reformat...put files back on flash drive and right clicked run as administrator on the make_bootable file on the flash drive. Ejected flash drive plugged back into server.

When it is booting after verifying DMI Pool data this comes up:

Remove disk or other media. Press any key to restart.

UPDATE:

Now it shows the flash drive like a HD drive.

Changed boot order to HD Drive 2.0 flash drive as the first boot...

Now it is just stuck after verifying DMI Pool Data..............Update Success

Then just blinking on the line under it.

I cannot get any version of unraid to boot...I have use unraid for 3 years and have never not been able to boot..any suggestions?

Do a long format of the flash drive in a PC then follow the installation instructions carefully. Then Configure the BIOS so that the flash is the only boot option. This may have to be done in more than on location in BIOS.

Thanks for responding.

After I copy the files to the flash drive all I have to do is run the "make bootable" file by right clicking run as administrator, then eject right?

Still no good...I downloaded memtest86 +usb installer and it boots memtest86 just fine from usb....Must be doing something wrong when i am formatting and setting up the usb then.
