Create share on only one drive?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Is it possible to create a share on only one drive (and specify which one)?

edit: To be more particular, I have a bunch of 3tb drives, and 1 1tb drive. I want to create my music share on the 1TB drive only -- I could create the folder by itself, but I want to use /mnt/user/Music as the location

Hello -

I have tried doing include on only one disk, and tried excluding all but one disk -- both methods do not create a share, it simply refreshes the page

edit: After some testing it seems to be a problem with creating files/folder on this drive

Yup -- I had shares. It seemed to be a problem with the disk, when running check disk on it (http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Check_Disk_Filesystems) it reported that it was not recognized as a reiserfs drive.

Since the drive was completely empty, I went ahead and ran preclear on it again

Did you format the drive after assigning it to the array?  (You must check the box under "Format" to enable it.)  Formatting only takes a few minutes or less with smaller drives.    If you were able to run the preclear script on it after having been assigned to the array, something is wrong, as the preclear script normally would not let you.  You must have un-assigned it?  Or, it has an intermittent connection to it, and the array forgot its model/serial number.

I did indeed format it last time -- but I don't think it formatted properly as my computer lost power while in the process. When I turned it back on, it didnt show that it needed to be formatted so I assumed it went well. This was completely user error :P

I reran preclear last night, formatted it earlier this morning, and was able to create shares on it this time.
