February 21, 201313 yr I've got another red ball Seagate 2TB drive. I ran the SMART test, and it shows as PASSED, but the "Current_Pending_Sector" value is 16. This drive is under warranty. Should I swap it out for a new one? smart.txt
February 21, 201313 yr Did you run the preclear process on it before putting it into the array? If not, then this is the sort of thing you might expect to see as you start to put a new drive into use. None of the SMART report values actually look bad, but having 16 bad blocks show up is worrying, at this point it might make sense to swap in a replacement drive and then put this drive through a few preclear passes to see if any further bad blocks develop. If more bad blocks are revealed by doing this, then you probably want to get a new drive. Regards, Stephen
