February 25, 201313 yr So here's what's going on. I had 5 disks totaling 15TB plus a 4tb parity and a cache. Then I upgraded to PLUS and installed a 3tb as my disk6. After formatting and adding it to the array, everything seems fine. I have a "media" share that spans all the disks, but the share size is still 13.6 TB which is what it was before adding the 6th disk. I've already gone in to the share and made sure that it is set to use the new drive as well as manually created the folder structure on the new drive. I also tried creating a simple share on just disk6 and that wont work. The webgui just reloads back onto the "create a new share" page. I upgraded to 5.0 rc11 and rebooted, stopped and started the array multiple times, etc. It's like unraid knows the disk is there, but like it doesn't want to use it. any thoughts? thanks! unraidsyslogPART1.txt
February 25, 201313 yr Sure... Look here first http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=9880.0 we are not mind-readers. (odds are high you have the global-user-shares setting set to only include the old disks in any user-share)
February 25, 201313 yr Author sorry about that. my syslog is too large to put into one attachment. so the OP has part 1..here is part 2. I think i have global settings set properly, fwiw.. unraidsyslogPART2.txt
February 25, 201313 yr Author now, i've noticed another issue. Since upgrading to rc11, none of my shares are accessible... now i'm really at a loss
March 1, 201313 yr Author why would i revert to stock system? the issue was both with stock and the newly upgraded.
March 1, 201313 yr Just like posting syslog (since it is text it compresses very well as zip) reverting to stock is one of the first steps in trying to narrow down the problem.
March 1, 201313 yr why would i revert to stock system? the issue was both with stock and the newly upgraded. Just a point - in this context 'stock' just means running without any plugins - it does not mean you should not be using the 5.0 rc11 release. The intention is to isolate genuine unRAID errors from those that might be caused by plugins not 9yet) running correctly with the current release.
March 1, 201313 yr Then I upgraded to PLUS and installed a 3tb as my disk6. After formatting and adding it to the array, everything seems fine. any thoughts? thanks! First, you needed to upgrade to Pro. Let's assume this might have been a typo. Did you remove you Plus key file from your flash drive? unRAID looks only for the first file that it finds with a .key extension. Second thought. As I recall, unRAID will not create a share directory (or folder) on a drive until it is actually ready to write a file to the drive. This point is determined by your allocation method.
March 1, 201313 yr now, i've noticed another issue. Since upgrading to rc11, none of my shares are accessible... now i'm really at a loss Typically you need to run the new permissions utility on unRAID and THEN reboot windows so it will then connect using the new permissions. Joe L.
March 2, 201313 yr Author tried that. when i revert to a backup, the shares so up fine. when i install the new files for the upgrade, windows cannot access the shares whats worse, is i cannot use the drive, which was the whole point in upgrading.
March 2, 201313 yr tried that. when i revert to a backup, the shares so up fine. when i install the new files for the upgrade, windows cannot access the shares Please define exactly what you mean by "windows cannot access the shares". What error messages are you getting? (We need to understand if the problem is with the network connection between the server and your clients computers or if the issue is inside the unRAID server itself.)
March 2, 201313 yr I don't think you stated from what version you were upgrading ? If you were upgrading from 4.7 then you need to remount all your shares because otherwise they will not work...
