February 27, 201313 yr Are there besides the Supermicro boards other motherboards that have IPMI integrated?
February 27, 201313 yr Personally I use an IP KVM instead. Can you turn on/off/reset your PC with it? Can you enter BIOS settings with it?
February 27, 201313 yr Author I started this just to find out if there a more brands and types of motherboards with IPMI besides Supermicro. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=26228.msg229217#msg229217 So stick to that please.
February 27, 201313 yr Personally I use an IP KVM instead. Am I missing something or is KVM not a part of IPMI? As you can see, I can launch it right there from the IPMI viewer.
February 28, 201313 yr Tyan Intel server MBs offer IPMI I currently have 2 and am using IPMI on them. I believe the ASUS Intel server MBs offer IPMI as well but I could be wrong about that. Edit: Apparently some do and some don't just like Tyan and SuperMicro. This model does have IPMI if you can find it easier than a SuperMicro or a Tyan. However to get KVM over IP (what makes IPMI worth it) you have to get another module that may be hard to get so maybe not. Edit2: Looks like you could go with genuine Intel board with IPMI integrated like Tyan or Supermicro.
February 28, 201313 yr Author Thanks Bob, I already saw that Intel board too. The trouble is that it seems you have to buy an additional Remote Management Module. Don't know if Intel is offering a complete package.

Don't know if Intel is offering a complete package. You are correct - didn't see that. So it is just like the ASUS. Looks like Tyan and SuperMicro are the only ones to have TRUELY integrated solutions.
March 12, 201313 yr Dear All, Could you please suggest some KVM switches (links please). My unraid build is based on a lower level Mainboard without IPMI option (I didnt thought that the appetite for IPMI will come later) but I would like to benefit of such option if available at all. As I understood it is a separate device communicating with the mainboard via RS232 cable. What I do not understand if the device have a LAN port as I can't imagine how the communication will go through without a separate LAN port and different IP. Thank you in advance. Best rehards
