Is it safe to still using this disk ?

I have had these errors for a long time, at least a year ... see also attached image from unmenu, and the long time log, it started to get  these error 2010-11-18

 

I have no issue during parity check and I have not get any error using it....

 

I have a 2TB drive under preeclearing, but I like to still using this disk, but if it not safe, I put into the bin.

I have done the pree clear of the 1.5TB gisk.

 

Not sure if this is disk safe to use , but in some log I see that the sectors have been fixed...

 

And I found some guide, perhaps something in here is useful, what do you think Joe L.? anything that might be useful to make a script for  maintenance of disk??

 

  • Is if it's not possible to repair, is it then possible to make this disk partition smaller so these sectors are not part of the partition

Hi

I'm no expert but on the finished smartreport I still see sectors Pending:

197 Current_Pending_Sector  0x0032   200   200   000    Old_age   Always       -       13

 

These also increased indicating sectors were flagged.

196 Reallocated_Event_Count 0x0032   187   187   000    Old_age   Always       -       13
  5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct   0x0033   178   178   140    Pre-fail  Always       -       175

 

If there are indeed pending sectors I would run another pre-clear to see if i could get rid of them.

 

Bear in mind though in no expert still learning how to interpret these things myself.

After another new preeclear it looks like this!  "197 Current_Pending_Sector  0x0032  200  200  000    Old_age  Always      -      0"

is this a step forward? going to do another preeclear right now to to see what happens.
