March 2, 201313 yr I am installed a super micro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 card to replace a few older PCI sata controller cards in a friends server As soon as I install the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 into the PCI-e 16x slot, when the computer boots the Marvel 88SE9485 shows, then a few dots then 4.0.0.1800, then a second later it reports: BIOS ERROR. I assume this is the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8's bios, not the main computer bios, but to check I pulled the card, then the computer boots into unraid just fine. I know this card works, I have used it in my server. What could be the problem?
March 2, 201313 yr What is the motherboard? It's likely that particular x16 slot is simply not compatible with controller cards... there are many examples of this being the case.
March 2, 201313 yr Author It is some old HP motherboard, and I have tried two different controller cards in it, same effect. New mobo time!
