Understanding Drive Related error in System Log

Featured Replies

I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on how to interpret the following entry in my system log:

Tower emhttp: shcmd (131): /usr/sbin/hdparm -y /dev/sdg >/dev/null (Drive related)

I noticed that this comes up after the mover has finished and all of the drives spin down. Anything to be concerned with?

-y   Put drive in standby mode

It's spinning down the disk.

I think you will find that sdg is your Cache disk, and since it is not an array drive, a direct hdparm call is used to spin it down.

By the way, 'Drive Related' is not an error, it's just an indication as to what type of syslog line this is.
