March 6, 201313 yr First time using unRAID, and I’m testing my new build before trusting it with any data. I needed to preclear two Seagate 4TB drives (1 parity, 1 data) – both were OK after two cycles. Next I added the drives to my array and started a parity sync. This is when both of the 4TB drives showed up as possible HPA. I’ve been searching the forums for a solution, but first I want to make sure that I actually have a problem. The hdparm –N command showed both drives as HPA disabled. Does this mean I’m in the clear? If so, am I correct in understanding that I can clear the HPA message by setting an "hpa_ok" attribute to 1 on the drive settings page? I just learned about HPA within the past two hours, so if someone could clarify what steps I need to take, it would be much appreciated.
March 6, 201313 yr You are fine. The correct drive size for 4TB drives isn't in the "OK" list for mymain, so it lists a possible problem. You should be able to click on the drives and enable an exception if it bothers you.
