March 6, 201313 yr I hope it is ok to post this in this forum. Im looking to move off of WHS 2011 and unRAID seems like the clear choice for me to make, however, i want to know if it is the best choice for me as I would want/need it to run the same applications that my WHS2011 box currently runs. I have verified that all of the applications I want to use are available on unRAID but im unsure if running them all would be hard on the system itself. I would need to run the following applications: SAB CouchPotato SickBeard Headphones Plex Media Server Subsonic Marachino CrashPlan FTP Server and maybe one or two more that i am forgetting. The plan was to build a new machine to run unRAID on it using the following components ASRock H77 Pro4-M Intel i3-3225 8GB RAM Seasonic X650 PSU 12+ TB spread around WD Red/Green/Black drives Will this setup work for me or am i better to try to offload the apps listed above to other machines to cover all of my needs?
March 6, 201313 yr Sab:- Works fine, running it now. Although, for a first time linux user permissions were a bit annoying (Though, if I followed the tutorial I would have done it first try. My fault for saying "Ha, tutorials!", eh?) Couch:- Works fine, running it now. SickBeard:- Works fine, running it now. Headphones:- No idea. Plex Media Server:- Works to an extent, people have had issues with it not fully grabbing all the meta data. If this is the case I recommend just manually updating it and it'll work fine, it only normally happens when you add > 100 items in one scan (E.G. first time you fill the drive). Subsoniic:- No idea. Marachino:- No idea. CrashPlan:- I've heard people using this, never tried it myself. FTP Server:- Has one built in, never tried to use it. As for the hardware, no idea, not a hardware guy. If you need help transferring the sickbeard (windows) database --> linux, here's what I did:- http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=26067.msg228159#msg228159
March 6, 201313 yr FTP Server:- Has one built in, never tried to use it. I could never get the built-in FTP server working, but the last time I tried was a few years ago. I think everyone has problems with it, so I don't understand why its included. There's a fairly new FTP plugin, but I haven't tried to use it.
March 7, 201313 yr There's a fairly new FTP plugin, but I haven't tried to use it. I used this thread to get FTP working on my system , http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=23652.msg208376#msg208376. I am running RC8 and it worked fine. I use it with WinSCP. The latest Unraid RC has changed the FTP setup.
