X9fscm ipmi

I just set this up the first time recently.  I connected 2 network cables from my switch to the motherboard, one to the dedicated IPMI port and one for network.  I then installed IPMI View on a Win7 box and had it scan for devices.  It found my IPMI on my MB, which automatically was assigned an IP via DHCP.  I was using a different supermico MB, but the process should be the same I would think.

On my x9scm-f board the ipmi port was not the upper one at the back. I fact, it was port 1 at the bottom, and port2 was the actual network connecton. The upper one was not in use. I had to go to the IPMI software and change te port use from there to get the top one working as ipmi port and port 1 as network.

If you didnt know allready, from this you would understand that you need 2 networkcables to your x9scm, one for ipmi and one for network :)
