Helmonder
X9scm-f Can someone give me a quick pointer on how to configure ipmi on this board so it gives lan and ipmi on the same board ? I do not seem to get it right.. Link to comment
JimmyJoe
I just set this up the first time recently. I connected 2 network cables from my switch to the motherboard, one to the dedicated IPMI port and one for network. I then installed IPMI View on a Win7 box and had it scan for devices. It found my IPMI on my MB, which automatically was assigned an IP via DHCP. I was using a different supermico MB, but the process should be the same I would think. Link to comment
jowi
On my x9scm-f board the ipmi port was not the upper one at the back. I fact, it was port 1 at the bottom, and port2 was the actual network connecton. The upper one was not in use. I had to go to the IPMI software and change te port use from there to get the top one working as ipmi port and port 1 as network. If you didnt know allready, from this you would understand that you need 2 networkcables to your x9scm, one for ipmi and one for network Link to comment
Helmonder
I have two cables but i get connectivity issues after some time with two of them.. I read it should be able to put ipmi and lan over the same port but cannot get that to work.. Link to comment
jowi
AFAIK you need 2 cables, you cannot use the same port for network & ipmi. My former x7spa board could, but this one aint. Link to comment
Helmonder
And you never get connectivity issues ? With two cables in the network freezes up in a couple of days, pulling the ipmi cable at that time solves it. Link to comment
Helmonder
Think I found it... I actually had IPMI configured on the second lan port with a dhcp address... Since moving to the latest bios the dedicated lan port also works for ipmi, I also set a static address to make its not my network f-ing this up... Link to comment
