User/Disk shares

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have just upgraded to rc5.11 and been trying to stop my disks (disk1,disk2 and disk3) from presenting themselves on the network. Previously in 4.7 i only had user shares available (Movies, TV and PS3). I suspect this may be user error as i was fiddling with shares, turning on and off, removing disks etc. trying to remedy this. Now My user shares are not available in the shares page of unmenu, they are not available to connect to over SMB, and it looks like they have been deleted...:

Is it possible to get my user shares back? I do have a copy of my Flash disk so the config files still exist - is it just a case of putting them back in....?

I tried putting my share config files back into /boot/config/shares and restarting unmenu with no joy.

Does turning user shares off delete the shares/config files for them?

How can i remove Flash and each of my individual disk from presenting themselves on the network?

Cheers

To enable user-shares, go to

Settings->Share Settings

and enable user-shares (set it to Yes and press apply)  Leave included and excluded disks blank for now.

Then, to disable the "disk" shares, go to

Main

and click on the labels for each disk "disk1", disk2", etc.  That will open up a window for that disk.

You can set the "Export" to either No, or Yes (hidden) as you desire.  and then press "Apply"

I really do not know if the config files are deleted if you turn off user-shares, but you'll soon find out.  Let us know if your settings are still there.

Ah of course! I'm using simpleFeatures plugin, the ability to click on the individual devices under the "Main" page did not appear quite so obvious as it did before - either way i can sucessfully choose which disks are exported/hidden now. Thanks Joe L.
