Mount & share bluray drive?

Featured Replies

Is there a way to mount and share a bluray drive under unraid? Not to be part of the array, but just so i can put in a bluray disk, and rip/copy it over the network using Win7?

Not easily I don't think. I mounted a USB DVD drive once so it must be possible. How good are your linux skills? I was thinking about hooking up the external dvd drive again and finding a program that would automatically rip my cd's for me tonight. If I do I'll try to document everything, and if you get something going before I do let me know. Or is this an internal drive you're talking about?

This is an internal SATA bluray (re)writer. Its in a testserver running free unraid, this was my former windows pc.

My linux skilz are very basic. I guess its easier getting an external bluray player and hook it up to my mac mini, so i can use it from Parallels/Windows.

Is this just one bluray you want to rip and share over the network? I know Unmenu has a shareiso feature. If you can get the thing down to an iso to begin with you could probably use that to share it over the network.

You might look at the SNAP plugin too: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=18046.0

Someone was saying on the last page you have to edit the plg to grab the new version though.

Now that I'm thinking about it... my unraid server is in a closet and I'd prefer not to go in there and swap cd's around the whole time. I'll probably see if one of my Raspberry Pi's will be up to the challenge later. Or I could always just use the mac. But what is the fun in that? Maybe I need to build a lego robot.....

No, i want to make iso's of physical discs :)

And this is not my primary uraid server, that one is in a closet as well. This is just a test unraid pc which happens to have an internal bluray rewriter, which i used for ripping when i was running windows on the machine.

Offcourse i could install win7 on it again or maybe run win7 from usb or anything but i was wondering maybe mounting the bd player and sharing it was possible under linux/unraid in an easy way.

Ah ok... good to know.

I guess i have to get an external/usb drive to connect to my mac/pc.
