Install on new Flash with pre-existing data?

Featured Replies

Long story short, I have a Flash device that was running unRAID 4.7 Final and 3 data drives but need to replace the motherboard. The new motherboard I got has Realtek 8111E LAN Chipset (thus the need for Beta upgrade). However, I do have a spare Flash drive laying around.

My question is; if I simply install unRAID v5.0-rc11 on a new Flash device and hook up my new mobo with hard drives that have data on them when they were running 4.7 Final, will the drives show up and work in rc11? I do have their previous SATA port slots in 4.7 written down.

I'll add a suggestion, Joe showed us a long time ago a way to dual boot UnRAID.  See this old post, beginning with the 5th paragraph ("To make it easier...").  Another example is here.  In fact, you don't have to stop at 2 choices, you can add as many as you like.  Keep in mind though that the file names have to be short, and fit within the old DOS 8.3 scheme.  (Ignore the rootdelay parameters, they were for old Linux versions.)
