Okay thinking of upgrading case. Coming down to these choices:

 

Nzxt H2 black $88

Fractal design r4 $119

Fractal design xl r2 $119

 

Any input from people who were in same boat.

I've got no first-hand experience with any of them.  I do have an NZXT Source 220 that goes for $50.  I only mention it because I think the build quality for the Source 220 is excellent at that price.  Presumably it scales up for the H2.  The Fractal Design cases have the look, to my eye, of just being a bit better in design and quality.  The XL R2 looks to be just a damn fine piece of kit.  Any of these look like a nice option, but if space and cost aren't an issue I'd go for the XL R2.  At 9" width and 36 lbs it is no lan party case though. 

I just got my Define R4, unfortunately I'm still waiting for all the other parts :-(

 

What I can say so far is that I would fully agree with all the stellar reviews it has gotten so far. It seems to be of superb quality, everything feels very solid and well thought out.

 

To be honest, 80$ for that case is a total bargain and you'll probably have to look very hard in order to find a case with better value for your money. Although personally, I'd never buy a white case :-)

I have the R4 in my workstation build. It was a real pleasure to work with.

I have the Nexus Prominent 9 you can fit 3 Norco 5in3s and its very quiet.

I paid 89.00 for mine.

Nice commentary on the NZXT H2 case in the DEFIANT thread.

I have a fractal XL (not R2).  It's a pretty nice case, but running the power cables behind the mobo required extension cables.  And I wish there was more room for cable management behind the mobo, another centimetre or so would make it easier to manage the cables.

 

 

The Nexus Prominent 9 is no longer produced.  I actually sent an email off to Nexus about it when I could not find a case to build some of our customers servers in.  They said the case is no longer being made and that there is no plan to release a replacement.

 

The Antec 902 and MS800 are probably your best replacements.  I have an MS800 (has 10 external 5.25 bays) and it is a very nice case.  I will have a review up on the Greenleaf website in the future.

Going with the Fractal Xlr2 should be here next week. $119 from NCIX, hope I like it!
