March 16, 201313 yr Hi, I've recently invested in a home server and have successfully got one running with 2x3tb drives and Unraid 5.11RC installed. I have Sickbeard, Sabnzbd, Couchpotato and Serviiio all set up and working as desired. I also managed to download the printer driver and have successfully used my server to print from. However, one thing is missing from my setup, and that is the ability to record audio streams and save them to my drive. I listen to a certain stream every week at a certain time and would love a plugin/addon to automatically record and save this stream. If that isn't possible just the ability to record it on my server would be great. Currently I have a programs on Windows that just records an audio the machine is playing and saves it. Not the best solution but it works. So, is there currently any plugins/addons to record an audio stream and save it to one of my share? I've searched for a few hours now but couldn't find anything to answer my question. The closest I found was a linux program called streamripper which I managed to install but it hit me up with an error saying some libraries were missing if I tried to do anything with it. I'm pretty new to the whole linux/unraid environment so didn't really have a clue with how to fix that. Any help or a nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated. Thanks.
March 16, 201313 yr VLC does this, here's the documentation of the command line:- http://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_command-line_help I know you can do this in windows using the GUI, no about unraid, linux or the command line.
March 17, 201313 yr Author I've since tried to install VLC. However I think I a, doing something wrong. Whenever I install the file it says I'm missing a bunch of libraries again and I'm not sure where exactly to get/install/fix this issue. I'm sure being new to linux/slackware/unraid isn't helping this at all. Has nobody else managed to install VLC on Unraid and get it working?
March 17, 201313 yr I'm pretty sure getting VLC running on stock unraid is a complete non-starter. I think it would require moving to either a full slackware install with unraid running as an add on. The other alternative I can think of is running the virtualbox plugin and setting up a virtual machine to do what you want.
March 18, 201313 yr Author Ahh, alright, thanks for the reply. Getting VLC to work is clearly beyond me at this point in time. Just getting unRaid set-up with the plugins I listed above and preclearing drives/copying files onto them was difficult enough for me. I guess I'll stick to my current setup of recording on a desktop for now, the virtualbox solution seems interesting but isn't really a direct solution like I was after. I'll look into it in the near future though, when I get some free time to fiddle with things. I guess I was just looking for a plugin (like sickbeard/sabnzbd) that would do everything I wish rather simply but one obviously isn't available at this time. Thanks again for the help.
