What is your Directory Structure look like?

What is your Directory Structure look like on Unraid for storing movies, tv show shows, home videos, photos, music, and backup?

And what the Split level did you setup?

The first directory in each listing is the share name:-

/Movies/Movie name (Movie year).ext

/TV Shows/Show Name/Series #/Show Name/Show Name - S00E00 - Episode title.ext

/Nicks files/

/Xs files/

/Appdata/Appname/

The last one is obviously hidden & cache only, for reasons that should be obvious. The third and fourth ones are just "data files", any formatting.

User share in bold.  :)

  • Anime share is used only for anime tv shows, not anime movies. I use split level 1 because I don't want any show to be split across several disks. Example: \\TOWER\Anime\Michiko to Hatchin\Episode Name.mkv

  • Audiobooks share is only for audiobooks. I use split level 2 so the author folder can be spread across several disks, but not individual books. Example: \\TOWER\Audiobooks\Stieg Larsson\Flickan Som Lekte Med Elden\Track Name.mp3

  • Backup share is used for everything I feel needs a backup. I use split level 4 because it's not necessary that specific folder need to be on just one drive. Example: \\TOWER\Backup\Document\Private\File Name.doc

  • Movies share is used for movies you can find on IMDb. I use split level 1 because I don't want movies and every file that belongs with it like subtitles spread across several disks. Example: \\TOWER\Movies\The Matrix (1999)\The Matrix.mkv

  • Music share is for my music collection. I use split level 2 so that every artist or band can be spread across several disks but not the albums. Example: TOWER\\Music\Tool\Lateralus\09 Tool - Lateralus.mp3

  • Pictures share is for my picture only. I use split level 1 because I don't want to split picture album. Example: \\TOWER\Pictures\2011 - New Year\IMG_001.jpg

  • TV Series share is used for tv series you can find on thetvdb.com. I use split level 2 because I don't want to spread files on the same season on several disks. Example: \\TOWER\TV Series\Breaking Bad\Season 1\episode s01e01.mkv

  • Videos share is for videos not found on IMDb, thetvdb.com like documentaries, private, concerts, sport, stand-up... I use split level 4. Example: \\TOWER\Videos\Stand-up\Bill Hicks\Last preformance.mpg

Hmmm.. Why are you storing Appdata on Unraid?

I am sure this going to make Windows performance slow because Unraid write speed is slow.

I would bet it is unRAID apps not Windows apps.

I like to Shares Pictures on Unraid but only want to stores on 1 disk - I dont do want to spread albums/files on several disks. How can that be done?

Set the split to 0 to let unRaid decide which disk gets the share or under the share set the include to only the disk you want.

Unraid apps like sabnzbd, sickbeard, couchpotato, plex, unmenu, etc...

2 separate appdata's

Windows appdata  stored on local hard drive

Unraid specific apps (plugins etc)  on appdata stored on unraid
