Slow Parity and slow to no write speeds

Featured Replies

I am having an issue with my new toshiba drive.  I had a 4 - 2tb wd Green set up (5 w/parity) and it worked great.  I added a toshiba 2tb drive last week and my write speed is very slow and will actually stop.  It will create the new folders and transfer some small files but wont transfer the movie files and then will eventually give me an error that it can't finish the transfer.  I pre-cleared the drive before adding it to the array.  I did also add a second controller card for this new drive but is the exact model as my other one that I have been using without issue.

I have noticed that when I try to transfer a file to that new drive it stops at 25,434,132kb.  It has stopped here both times I tried to transfer files.

I have removed the two new Toshiba drives and the new controller card and I am still having the problem with slow to no write speed.  I am attaching my latest syslog.  It was all working great until I tried to add the new controller and toshiba drives.

I am currently re-doing the parity as i removed the two new drives and the speed tops out arount 2300kb.

I did a smart report on all 5 drives and they all passed.  I checked all my cables too.

My machine is

Abit IB9 Mobo w/4 Sata onboard

Intel Core 2 Duo

4mb Ram

SIIG Sata II PCIE 2 port controller card

5 - 2tb WD EARS20 (1 Parity, 4 Data)

No Cache

Unraid 4.7

Any help is greatly appreciated

Attach a log that includes a failure event. Post SMART reports.

Here is the syslog and the smart report for the parity drive.  I tried to transfer a file to the server and the folders were created and some small files but stopped with a message that it cant access the drive when the movie file was transferring.  I didn't see anything in the syslog that indicated the transfer????  Maybe becausue the transfer was initiated by windows explorer and not from unraid. My system has been doing a parity check for over 24 hours and it is only at 12% at a rate of 2100kb.

Thanks for your reply.  I actually noticed that too.  Since i am a newbee I wasn't aware of what I was supposed to be looking for but after reading some other threads about bad drives i saw the errors.  I replaced the drive and it now appears to be working fine.

Thanks again for the help
