Failed 3TB Parity upgrade...how to revert to old parity drive?

Featured Replies

I've attempted and failed three times to upgrade my 2TB Green drive with a 3TB Red drive.  I'll be posting about that later...

However, right now my question is:

I still have the old parity drive and none of my disks are/were having a problem except the new 3TB parity drive.  I have done nothing to the old drive since removing it.  I have attempted to build parity on the new drive three times and I'm getting the "attempted to read past end of device" error.

While I'm trying to sort out the problem, I'd like to re-install my old parity drive.  Is there anything special/precautions that I need to take to accomplish this?  I did not save my config file before swapping the drives (the instructions that I as following did no include that tip).

Do I need to pre-clear the old parity before re-installing it?

Can I just reinstall it and allow parity to rebuild?

If I re-install it and just assign it as parity will everything just run as before?

Unraid 5.0rc-11

Many Thanks

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't find it.

Basically I tried to rebuild parity on a new drive, it failed. I still have my old parity drive.  How do I go back to that?  No drives are failing besides my new parity drive.

I just don't want to make a fatal error...

Thanks and sorry for the bump....

Install the drive and reset the config. Parity will be rebuilt.
