Growing beyond 15 drives

Featured Replies

I am currently on unRAID Server Pro 4.3.3 with 15 drives plus parity,  I have already done the hardware upgrade to add more drives, but as I recall, I need a different version of unRAID to expand beyond this number.  What is the  needed version and where to go.  Thanks in advance.

I would strongly suggest 4.7.  It will allow 20 data drives.  It is the current non-beta release.

Once on 4.7, you can then upgrade to 5.0-rc12a and the max number of drives is then 24.  (You must upgrade to 4.7 first)

Your 4.3.3 release is about 40 or 50 releases old at this point.  Lots of fixes and new features have been added.

Before you do anything, make a copy of your "config" directory on the flash drive, get a screen print of the current drive assignments.  You might need to re-assign them to their respective slots..  It will be useful if you need it to revert to the older release.

Also, perform a full parity check to make sure the current hardware is working before the upgrade.
