April 2, 201313 yr This is a pretty good deal for a big ticket item that goes for $2000 retail. If I had the dough, I would be all over this! 45 drive capacity!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Supermicro-SuperChassis-SC847E26-RJBOD1-Chassis-CSE-847E26-RJBOD1-/400429155954?pt=COMP_EN_Servers&hash=item5d3b700672 Full specs can be found here: http://www.supermicro.com/products/chassis/4u/847/sc847e26-rjbod1.cfm FYI...I am in now way affiliated with the seller and I cannot speak to their accountability. They had 3 available at the time I posted this. John
April 3, 201313 yr How would we use this with unRaid? You would have to have two separate unraid instances. If you virtualized everything and had money to blow you could use this to rsync a complete backup of your main unraid server.
April 3, 201313 yr Author It has 4 SAS ports in the back of the case. Add a SAS card with external ports to your unRAID box and treat it like external storage. I actually did this on my ESXi box with a Perc 5E card. All of the datastores were housed in a separate 4U box (really just a gutted server chassis). That being said, I cannot couch for how well this would play with unRAiD but I can't see why it owuldn't work as long as you use a supported controller. John
January 30, 201412 yr Anyone uses already the SuperChassis? Just wondering how loud is it in comparison to two Norco 4224/4220 with good fans and Corsair HX750 PSUs...
