[?] Virtualbox "share folder" vs "network share"

Recommended Posts

I do a lot of copying between 2 unRAID shares (Cache and media) via my Windows 7 VM running on unRAID virtualbox.

I have a single network connection in my machine used for both unRAID and the VM (2 different IPs of course).

Until now I have done the copying via unRAID shares defined as network shares in the Windows VM.

Does this physically move the data over the network thus reducing the speed?

If I define VirtualBox shared folders (http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04.html#sharedfolders):

* Will it do the copying directly and not over the network?

* Will it be faster then over a network share?
