New 3tb disk showing as 2.2tb

Featured Replies

I have the Super Micro controller,  aoc-saslp-mv8 and my new 3 tb seagates are showing up as 2.2tb. I have the newest version of unRaid, purchased last week. Is there something different I have to do here?

What EXACT version of unRAID do you have?  (Purchased last week is not specific enough)

I did not realize Tom was "shipping" the 5.X series... you must have downloaded that 5.0rc12a version yourself.

Where are the disks showing up as 2.2TB?  That sounds like the size of the "protective" partition defined in their MBR to fool older utilities into thinking the disk is entirely allocated.  What utility are you using?

2.2TB is the biggest size a partition can be defined using an MBR.  Anything else requires different tools.  (and a GPT based partition)

What size do they show in the syslog?

Under the device status page. I cannot currently tell anything because I went ahead and precleared the drives, they are still in the process.
